Court of Appeals Affirms Porn Law Protecting Children
The Federal 6th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act of 1988, which requires pornographers who take photos of people engaged in sex acts to keep records of their names and ages to prove they are not minors. This is a potentially major victory for those who want to protect children!
The decision will likely be challenged and we can pray that the Supreme Court
confirms the law as constitutional and needed to protect children. An earlier decision by a 3 judge panel had ruled that the act was an unconstitutional violation of free speech.
This will help to set the stage to significantly limit the amount of illegal sexual material out there. Now the problem is enforcing this act. With Obama's nomination of some pro-pornography justice department members, it doesn't bode well that the law will be enforced.
