Should All Christians Vote? Registration Deadlines and Resources
Sadly, there is much debate about Christians being involved in politics or even simply voting.
James Garfield, president and ordained minister of the Gospel, said this, “Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature.”
Every election cycle, there are tens of millions of Bible-believing Christians who refuse to vote (about 1/3 in presidential years, and over 1/2 in the others). If every believer simply voted, our nation would morally turn around in a few years.
Samuel Adams said this about voting, “Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote…that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”
We want to encourage every sincere Christian to take their stewardship of this country that God has given us seriously and vote. To do that, you must be registered to vote. The deadline is coming up soon. In Oregon, it is this upcoming Tuesday October 16th. If you have moved or had other changes, you should register again. Here are some great links to register right now online, as well as more resources:
